The 224th Electrochemical Society Meeting was held in San Francisco, CA from October 27th to November 1st 2013. I had the opportunity to give a talk on "Energy Minimization in the 'Electrochemical Disinfection of Human Liquid Waste Using Boron-doped Diamond Electrodes". The conference was also a good opportunity to meet other teams participating in the Reinventing the Toilet Challenge.

This year’s ECS Fall Conference in San Francisco held a special summit to showcase what the research community is doing to tackle the challenges surrounding the energy and water nexus. This was a great opportunity to share our group’s recent work on nanomaterials engineering for various applications through a poster presentation that included: human liquid waste disinfection, energy storage via supercapacitors working in aqueous electrolytes, and hydrogen energy production through water-splitting. As the presenter of our poster, I felt that the positive feedback that I received from the event attendees reflected the quality of our work and was especially exciting since it came straight from our peers working at the forefront of the research.
