Akshay was a member of Prof. Jeff Glass' research group working at the Nanomaterials and Thin Films Lab under the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Pratt School of Engineering. He worked on the electrochemistry of carbon nano-materials for energy storage and disinfection applications - studying the effects of morphological variations in nano-materials on their electrochemical capacitive behavior, studying and optimizing reactions generating mixed oxidants at the surface of carbon electrodes for microbial disinfection in human liquid waste. Prior, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Pune (2005), and subsequently worked as a Software Engineer at Aftek Ltd., in Pune, India (2005-07).
